Cargo of Truth

Cargo of Truth is a "hot potato" style rotation game that encourages deep, focused conversation as the group sits in a circle.

Setup

  • The Plane: Use the RAE NOVA glider.

  • Materials: Have a small stack of sticky notes and a single pen ready.

  • The Circle: Everyone sits in a circle on the floor or around a table.

How to Play

  1. Anonymous Cargo: Every person starts by writing a secret, a deep truth, or a "high-altitude" fact on a sticky note.

    • Note: Only put what you are willing to share.

  2. Mixing the Notes: Everyone exchanges notes with the person directly across from them, then exchange notes an additional 3 times.

  3. The Launch: One member attaches the sticky note to the top-side of the glider or tuck it into the glider’s wings without showing anyone else in the group. Gently toss the plane containing the note to a random player of the circle, or whoever it lands closest to.

  4. The Investigation:

    • The person who received or picked up the plane reads the secret aloud.

    • The group now has 3 minutes to discuss the secret or ask questions to the "air" or group (since the author is anonymous).

    • Alternatively, the reader can try to guess the author by asking one "getting to know you" question to suspected-persons in the circle.

  5. The Reset: Once the discussion ends, the secret slip is set aside. The plane is re-launched from the last person who received it, to a new person to load their own "cargo," and the cycle repeats.

Variations for Better Talk

  • The "Advice" Flight: Instead of a secret, the writer writes a "pressing problem (can be real or fake)"  they are facing. The group then brainstorms solutions together before the author is revealed (if they choose).

The Silent Pilot: To increase the experiment's tension, the author must remain completely silent and expressionless while the group discusses their secret, observing the group's reactions.
